Cooking the perfect boiled egg is a tricky business, it depends on the size of the egg, the heat of the water and many other things. But I think the method below is a sure fire way to get the result you want.
Taste #5 Umami Rush
- Place the number of eggs you require into a saucepan and cover them with cold water by about 1cm. Place the pan on a high heat and as soon as it reaches boiling point, reduce the heat so the water is gently simmering. Now start your timer to 3 minutes for a really soft boiled egg, 4 minutes for a white that is just set and a yolk that is creamy or 5 minutes for both the white and yolk set, with the yolk slightly squidgy in the centre.
- Remove the eggs, place in your favourite egg cup and crack open. Sprinkle liberally with Taste #5 Umami Rush and enjoy with buttered soldiers.
