Day 13 | Umami Steak

I created this recipe and delicious sauce using my Umami Bomb to elevate an ordinary steak to an extraordinary level of flavour

LEVEL      Easy



2       steaks of your choice
2       teaspons Taste #5 Umami Bomb
3       tablespoons olive oil
3       garlic cloves, thinly sliced
freshly ground black pepper
5       tablespoons mirin (Japanese rice wine)
2       tablespoons soy sauce
1       tablespoon butter


  1. Remove your steaks from the refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature for 30 minutes
  2. Rub 1 to 2 teaspoons of Umami Bomb onto each steak
  3. Drizzle with olive oil on both sides and a good grinding of fresh pepper
  4. Allow to marinate for 20 minutes
  5. Heat the olive oil in a non-stick frying pan, when hot add garlic and steaks
  6. Cook on both sides until done to your preference
  7. Just before you remove from heat, add mirin and soy sauce
  8. Remove steaks to a warmed plate to rest
  9. Lower the heat and de-glaze the pan with the mire and soy sauce and another small squeeze of Umami Bomb paste
  10. Add the butter and stir until butter is incorporated to make a sauce.
  11. Pour over the steaks and serve
